A month has passed yet it feels like I am just coming back from 8-Days. Hosted by Public Recording its a pan-Canadian Choreographer’s meeting; a rigorous exchange inspired by “co-authorship and adventure”. I was among 23 other choreographers for these 8-Days in June 13-22 in residency at the Gibraltar Point Arts Centre on Toronto Island (photo above). We were, day and night, in the studio, in the kitchen, on the beach, in a sweat lodge, harvesting vegetables, partaking in long conversational or silent walks, sharing personal libraries and co-creating this event. Both new encounters and re-connections made with these artists, potent and driven, making and shaping, debating and agreeing/not agreeing, inspiring and tiring, moving forward in many directions.

I chose to document 8-Days via Video, fliming the water's edge every day at the same time in the same place (with one exception due to a co-working project). see here: 8-Days documentation

This weekend in Vienna will be my last teaching engagement before a month-long summer pause.

I was invited to attend the IDOCDE ("international documentation of contemporary dance education") Teacher’s Symposium: “The Importance of Being (Un)Necessary” at the ImPulsTanz festival in Vienna 29-31.07.216. Joining a handful of internationally and artistically diverse teachers and their practices, engaging in exchanges both in the studio and out. If you are in Vienna do come join. IDOCDE My workshop contribution is on Sunday the 31st from 10:00-12:00, "Moveable Cinema Practice-seeing/feeling in movement, Studio One in Arsenal.

Production

With great joy and gratitude it’s a pleasure to announce that my next project Moveable Cinema received funding from the Canada Council for the Arts: Production Projects in Dance. Working with a wonderful team of Artistic collaborators, production managers; Raisa Kröger and MiCA, co-operative persenter Tanzfabrik, and yet to be set co-operative funding. Setting this in motion, and diving in to creation feels beautifully timed. It will be presented at the Tanzfabrik-Berlin in 2017, stay tuned.

Also with gratitude, in collaboration with Minoga Dance Company in Yekaterinburg, Russia, we received support from the Goethe Institute, Moscow’s program “Miteinander-Voreinander: Austausch von Kulturakteuren”. For just over one week in October 2016, I will offer workshop to the community and engage in artistic research for the company with an open presentation, delightfully so.

Berlin Teaching

Dynamic Expansion, dance/movement practice incorporating Craniosacral system awareness at the Tanzfabrik-Berlin

Following many requests, Dynamic Expansion classes at the Tanzfabrik are switching from Thursday mornings to Tuesday afternoons. Starting September 6, 2016 classes will be from 16:45-18:15, 90 minutes in Studio 2 Möckernstr. 68 Kreuzberg. Looking forward to a new rhythm, and condensed class time, to continue this practice.

Dynamic Expansion weekly classes: join in this somatic dance practice, attuning to the craniosacral system and moving through structured improvisational forms. Embedded is the practice of enhanced vision with movement, which is simply phenomenal.

Tuesday Classes at Tanzfabrik 16:45-18:15 (Summer Pause no class until 06.09.16)

CRANIOSACRAL Practice

Craniosacral sessions have many benefits for wellness including: deeply easing stress, deep rest for the nervous system, increased vitality, unwinding of unwanted habits, and increased general well-being. Craniosacral also has many benefits for Health including; improved eyesight/vision, reduced acute pain, rehabilitation in the neural field, learning disabilities, gross and fine motor problems, developmental delays, autism, headaches, tinnitus, TMJ syndrome, stress disorders, trauma and neurological conditions.

I work co-creatively with each client, some themes and issues are resolved in one session, some in 3-4 sessions and others over time.

Berlin Practice days are Monday and Friday afternoons (with exceptions).
