Hoping this finds you well, in good health and bright, as bright can be in these truly unique times.

My sympathies to any of you who might be experiencing loss, hardship, strain or instability in these times. Hoping you can reach out and receive the support necessary. Feeling like a time to truly embrace the saying “we are all in this together”.

I myself am in good health and continuing to expand my work and practices within the current public health conditions and constraints set up to slow down our current pandemic. I’m feeling truly optimistic that this a wonderful time for my research ideas and new practices to be seeded, planted and to germinate. Spring is a wonderful time for synching up those to those rhythms.

Above is a captured image from a group exploration during the HIVE Residency.

The HIVE residency, January 6 – February 7, 2020 took place at the International Artist Residency at FARM Studio in Andore, Rajasthan, India. Curated by myself, with invited members:
Jared Gradinger, Claudia Hill, Samuel Draper, Roberto Martinez, Marina Hulzenga, Clara Birnbaum Pantzerhielm, Shelley Etkin, Monique Romeiko, Navtej Johar, and Simrat Dugal.

Borrowing from Nature a Bee Hive model wherein an organism with others of likeness live together in a chosen place to thrive. Within the hive there is specialization as each individual has a distinct task/specified role. Respecting that all tasks are valued equally: meaning the hive would not exist without these roles being carried out, they act as a whole or a system or a superorganism.
Within this Hive model we spent collectively 5 weeks together with the invitation for Open Source Exchange: to intersect exchanges and interchange our research, resources and practices. The invitees’ work, or practice engages in some or all of the following; dance, expanded consciousness, performance, visual art, hand’s-on bodywork modalities, sense-driven (somatic) practices, and co-operative work with Nature.

The concept of the Hive is to give the opportunity of Time to expand one’s resources, share in discoveries and generate vibrancy in one’s own work/research/practices and those of each other. The invitees were selected based on their engagement in parallel practices with the understanding that they are often in a production-based milieu where one might normally find they are lacking in Time for true conversations, and creative artistic inquisitive exchange. The Hive offers an environment of true exchange through a non-time-pressured and a non-production driven atmosphere.

It was such an incredible experience, so inspiring and a source for creative expansion on countless levels.

HIVE at Farm Studios India

Currently I am in the process of discussion and planning for a few futures HIVES. Building on this existing one and looking to a possible HIVE in Sweden, another in South India, and perhaps in Estonia. It's truly compelling to engage in this form with artists, researchers and practitioners, truly.

PRODUCTION NEWS

My current project Fluid Resilience (working title), is a work to explore how resiliency in Water, in Nature, in us, in between us could expand our deeper relationship to water, and it’s vital role.
With gratitude I was given the support to research this last year in a residency at the Dance House in Dublin, from Dance Ireland, at the Canadian Wilderness Artist Residency on the Yukon River, Yukon Canada, and most recently at the Farm Studios, Andore Village Rajasthan.

There are 2 research periods and a pre-premiere that were in the plans and are now suspended. One is for Stockholm, Sweden with collaborator Mira Mutka, and the other in a workshop in Istanbul, Turkey. When these re-materialize I will send updates.

The German premiere of Fluid Resilience, supported by my co-operative co-producer Tanzfabrik Berlin, is scheduled for October 17th and 18th 2020 as a part of their Open Spaces at Uferstudios in Wedding. This will be our 11th year working together and I am so appreciative for their support. I am also so incredibly grateful for the Support of the Canada Council for the Arts as a part of their: Strategic Funds and Initiatives Frankfurt 2020: Canada Guest of Honour Special Initiative for Canadian Artists.

I am joined by a team of brilliant collaborators: performers Jared Gradinger and Sigal Zouk, Igor Dobricic, collaboratively contributes via his dramaturgy, Marla Hlady will contribute with sound, Emese Csornai with light, and biologist Allyson Quinlan with Resilience Practice consultancy.

Looking forward to share this work with you as well. Stay tuned for Canadian Dates in Ottawa, Ontario (t.b.a.) and others.

AUDIO-GUIDED movement/dance practice CLASS!

All classes in Germany are suspended due to the current Public Health rules and regulations.

Since March 17th, i have been offering my weekly Tuesday movement research classes via an audio-guided practice.

This is created for those who are familiar with my practice, or open to meet the practice in this way. It is not a form to learn, but a practice to engage with through movement. You can do this in 2-3 square metres in your studio, "home-studio", or outside with headphones.
I have been asking those interested in joining this practice to send me their wish to join with their email address. This is the forth week, and thus I have 4 recordings.

If you are interested in receiving a link to the audio-guided work please email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

I am enjoying this process fully and have been grateful for the feedback and positive participation.

Until now these are offered with an non-monetary "In-Exchange Action" proposal.

If you would like to join this but feel that you would like or need some individual coaching one-to-one please contact me. We can set up a private video tutorial for you to gain entrance or access to this practice of Dynamic Expansion/Moveable Cinema. Thus enriching your participation in the group-guided practice.
