Hoping this finds you well and bright, especially in these fluctuating times of Spring, sending wishes that you may find balance within it all.

Updates

The past months have been densely packed with so many facets of my work and working with others that I am truly grateful for.

Most recently Dance Ireland invited me at the end of April to be their International Associate Artist. I had the luxury of a 2-week residency in the Dance House, Dublin for my artistic work and research. This supportive relationship is 10+ years now, and as an independent dance artist this kind of support is rare and wonderful. It was also an opportunity to offer classes and a workshop, connect to new and re-connect with Irish dance artists who have affinity to dance performance practice integrating somatic practices.

Coming up on the horizon

I have been invited to take part in the Tanzkongress 2019 within the context of “Down by the Water” on June 9th, 2019 curated by Stefanie Wenner. I will have the great pleasure of speaking in a “live conversation” with dear friend and colleague Jared Gradinger. We will engage through our shared interests and from our own unique relationships with Nature and it's presence in our practices; with our work with plants, performance, our curiosity of the elements of Nature, in our dance and artistic work and, as often happens in our meetings, we may share experiental practices. Please join us if you are down near the Elbe River.

You may also find me at Helllerau, Dresden where I will be one of many open and curious participants of this instalment of the Tanzkongress, Meg Stuart’s curatorial event-A Long Lasting Affair. I will also be offering sessions of my healing practice: Midline aligninments, grounding, clearing and Dynamic Stillness. I am looking forward to this and to be part of this meeting of many. For session work while there you can contact me directly, see contact info at the bottom of this Newsletter.

Creative Facilitation

In June I will have the great pleasure to be offering a One-To-One Creative Facilitation/ Mentorship with long-time friend and colleague Alison Denham of Vancouver, Canada. Ali and I danced together for many years in many contexts in our time together at Toronto's Dancemakers. She will be researching and expanding her artistic and performing dance practice from a place of true curiosity and desire for input ad feedback. I adore and respect her so deeply it is an honour to be invited into this process.
We would like to thank the BC Arts Council for funding this development work to take place in Berlin June 22-July 7, 2019.

Performance

Accepting an invitation by Darko Dragičević to Join his performance interventions in Open Spaces Tanzfabik Berlin July 20, 2019 called Failure as Practice is a challening and engaging proposal. There will be a series of these interventions performed by Berlin and Belgrade artists which take place at Uferstudios Berlin, from 19.-21.07.19. Please join us there.

Artistic Research

I was selected to join the Canadian Wilderness Residency, which facilitates artistic practice and research in backcountry Canada. I will be among 10 artists and a group of guides who will travel from Whitehorse to Dawson  City, Yukon via canoe on the Yukon River from July 25-August 19, 2019. After this 700km river journey we will be taking part in the Riverside Arts Festival in Dawson offering artists talks in varying forms. I will take this gift of a residency to begin early stages of research for a project that I will be presenting in 2020 in Berlin. It’s been a long-time desire to go canadian North. Its with great pleasure and I look forward to meet this great river, meet local communities and fellow artists. I also look very much forward to how this will inform, enter and influence my practices and to share this.
